    Default OBD II Power failure

I have a 2000 chevy silverado that the SES light came on. I plugged my scanner up to it to retrieve the codes, but the scanner won't even power on. So just to check that my scanner didn't crap out, I checked it on another vehicle and it powered up fine. So I know the OBD II receptacle in my truck is not working. Now what?

A lot of times this is due to a fault in the power supply circuit to the diagnostic port. I know on my '98, the diagnostic port gets power through the cigarette lighter fuse, and, in a lot of cases like yours, that fuse is blown. That's where I'd recommend starting.
