The family of an Alberta man who died of severe head injuries is dismissing a Mexican toxicology report. Thirty-three-year-old Jeff Toews was hurt at the Moon Palace Golf and Spa Resort in Cancun last weekend, and died this week. Mexican hospital officials claim to have found traces of cocaine in his blood. Murray Toews, Jeff's brother, says tests to ensure he would be a suitable organ donor didn't detect any problems. Relatives say Toews was beaten to death while Mexican investigators say he was injured in a fall after a night of drinking.
What do Canadians do so bad while vacationing in Mexico that warrants this happening all the time? This is like the 4th time I've read of a vacationers death in Mexico. Do they hate vacationers or Canadians in general?

I've always been wary to go to Mexico becuase of stuff like this. Sure, some redneck sheriff in Alabama may go nuts, or you may come across an occasional crazy RCMP officer if you look hard enough ... but corruption in Mexico is just crazy.
They can't even get constant power in Mexico city, there are brownouts daily for years. Forget about law and order.
On the other hand, they do have nice beaches.
