New Trans or Rebuild with upgraded parts.
I have seen so many post regarding rebuilding a tranny with upgraded servos and shift kits but my question is will they hold up against a new trans. I bought a 97 Burban K1500 with a busted trans, i have no first gear or overdrive some local guy said he will rebuild it for 800 bucks if i get all the rebuild goodies the price is almost equal to that of a brand new one so i am wondering if its even worth it.

Your common 700R4/4L60E can usually be found fully rebuilt (albeit with stock parts) for around $800-$1200. That being said, $800 just for labor is a bit ridiculous. For just his labor, you can afford to attempt to rebuild the transmission you have once, fail, and do it again and be sucessful.Christopher
