GMC S15 Sierra Classic
So 2 days ago I am driving down some country roads and I came up on this truck for sale that looked like an older S10 or Sonoma. It had a plow on it and the body was lifted what looked like 10 or more inches. So I stopped to look at it and it ended up being an S15 Sierra Classic. Somebody had taken steel I beams and lifted the bed, I don't remember what they did to lift the cab, but the thing was hideous. Anybody know anything about these trucks. Looked like it had an 8cylinder in it, i could see the side of the engine from the wheel well and saw 4 plugs. I am tempted to put a plow on my S10 but I am tempted just to buy this, they are asking 1500. It is pretty beat up, looks like it was mainly used as just a plow truck. The rear shocks were broke off at the leaf springs, and it had leaf spring suspension in the front. They used an I beam to mount the plow hydraulic cylinder to. Just wondering if anybody has some experience with these trucks.1999 Chevrolet Suburban LS K1500

Sounds like a Frankenstein SFA [solid front axle] conversion w/ a V8 added...There was a bunch of guys putting older solid front axles under S-10's for the additional articulation to do extreme 4x4. The first gen s-10 was the testbed for GM's current independent front suspension for 4x4. These guys were taking solid axle front ends from older bronco's & international scouts and putting them in place of the IFS on the s-10.
Some of the same guys were doing alot of the V8 conversions too...
There were also some guys w/ torch and welders and no sense too.
There is a reason you don't see that many snow plows on S-10 trucks...I had a '62 Willys CJ5 w/ a 6 foot plow and it tore it up!
The older first gen T-10/T-15 were called Sierra...Chevy was S-10/S-15 with the 15 designating 4x4...GMC didn't use Sonoma until sometime around '91-'92
