Mudpuppy and Moogvo are right. I've used basic Pennzoil 5or10 30W in all of my engines. No problems. Until an oil pressure line gets sheared off at the fire wall and you have no oil. Its all basically the same. Or it would be pulled from the shelf due to being sued for not working. The devil, ahem, differences are in the details. Each company gives it it's own little custom spin on what detergent or additive they and then shape and color of the bottle and how the label reads. Synthetics with synthetics and conventionals with convetionals of course. Now, some are better than others yes. But are you really going to put two different motors next to each other and run different oils in them and run them until they blow to find which is better? No. Too much money and time. Both will last longer than 3,000 miles on the stand. As Mudpuppy said, gunk stuck to the walls is good gunk. Holds the motor together without breaking it. And Moogvo said that changing the oil at 3,000 miles lets you see what preventive maintnance and services needs to be done so your rig will last longer.

Plus, doing an oil change gives me something to do and is a great escape when trying to get away from the significant other!
HAHAHAHA! I know how you feel!
