    Default I hate to ask this.

    I did a lot of searching but couldn't find what I was looking for.

    I'm debating between a rough country lift block and the bilstein 5100 lift shocks. I'm leaning towards the Bilsteins just because my truck has 50,000 miles and I'm not sure how much longer the stock shocks are going to hold up. I'd expect then to be fine for a while longer, but I don't want to buy blocks and then a few months later need new shocks also when I could have just done that to start with. Thats my reasoning.

    The big question I have is about ride quality. With the blocks I don't see how the ride could change much. Different shocks will obviously change things. 99% of the time I'm just doing normal driving, so I would prefer a smooth ride over something stiffer that would perform better.

    Anyone have any experiences going from oem to Bilsteins?

    If it makes any difference this is on an 07 new body style.

    Hi Denn, welcome to the GM Truck Club.
    If you want your truck to actually be "lifted" then buy the lift block. Shocks don't lift a vehicle unless they are air shocks. Gas shocks don't really have any lifting capability. I have cut the retaining straps off of gas shocks before I have installed them & applied downward pressure on them & at best they only have about 30 to 50 lbs. of resistance or weight lifting, "vehicle lifting" ability.

    Can't answer you que on ride quality & neither can anyone else till you give us more info on your vehicle. This is an '07 new body style of what??
