It might be worth having that carb rebuilt as well. Did it sit for a while before you got it? Quadrajets are notorious for plugging up when they've been sitting. Hence my plan to switch to TBI on my van.

    dualdj1,
Since you like TBIs' so well how about you trade me your Quadrajet for my '88 TBI off my Chevy C3500? It's guaranteed to get worse mileage than a well tuned quadrajet ha ha.. Seriously, I will make this trade if you want. The TBI has been sitting about 10 years, it had 95,000 miles on it when I changed over. I don't know what it would cost to ship or where you are located. I live in S.W. Oregon. How many years/miles does your quad have on it?

Hi Guys. It turns out that it was the Ignition Module. Runs like a beast now, except that I have to replace the exhaust from the Cat back because the back fires blew it apart. ha! Thanks for all the help and suggestions!!

Agree there, however my computer tuning skills are much better than my carb tuning skills :P

With the fact that I don't drive it more than 1-2x a month, I don't want to mess with the higher chance of having the carb plug up while sitting, take the easy maint route, even if it means a little lower mpg.

@OP, glad you got it figured out!

If the timing chain has stretched over time/miles then you will see these issues.

If you replace the timing chain, you should also replace the dampner also.
