Thread: Hi from Dubai

    Default Hi from Dubai

Hi, I've just recently bought a Silverado 1500 (2010) with a Pro Comp 6" lift. Its running on Pro Comp Xtreme A/T 35 x 12.5R18LT tires. Unfortunately the dealer has not been able to give me an indication of correct tire pressures.

I run mostly on the highway but work takes me on to the sand a lot (as you can imagine in the desert!) Generally the truck runs unladen, but occasionally I carry up to 600kgs in the back.

Can anyone suggest tire pressures for road use? They are currently on 35psi and have been there for the first 2000kms with no issues.

WElcome aboard, and your question is best answered in the suspension sub forum.

Welcome. 35 psi should be good; however, if you want to dial in your tire pressure, drive your truck around a bit to warm up the tires, put it on a flat surface and mark a chalk line in front of the tires. Drive it forward and see where on the tread has the most chalk, if it is in the center you have too much pressure, if it is on the sides - not enough. If it is even...your good to go.

Very interesting idea. I've never heard of that but I'm always learning new things here. Good advice, Bobby.

And Highlander, welcome to the site from Texas! I need to go visit Dubai some time. I hear good things.

Hi Highlander, welcome to the GM truck club. Where exactly is the drag strip in Dubai? We have a guy from NHRA named Hot Rod Fuller that runs Top Fuel in Dubai & has a sponsorship from there. Do you know anything about this?

Hi Stephan, yeah I have heard of Hot Rod Fuller and heard that he is working out here at the moment. We have a couple of Drag Strips here at the moment. The newest one is at the Formula One circuit in Abu Dhabi (Yas Marina Circuit). The other one is in a place called Umm Al Qwain at the Motorplex they have built there. I saw something on TV a few weeks ago about it and Hot Rod Fuller was mentioned in it. Dubai is in the middle of both of these places, about an hour to Abu Dhabi and about 45 minutes to Umm Al Qwain. We have a racing circuit here (Dubai Autodrome) which is very active with local and regional series, and the occasional international event. No drag strip there but they do run drag races along the main straight sometimes.
