    Post 4L60e Transmission Upgrade?

    I have a 4L60e in my 04 Silverado. I don't know how much rwhp it has cause I never dynoyed it but my guess would be at 330hp cause it has radix supercharger. I'm wondering if I add another 100rwhp to my truck will I need to upgrade the transmission so it can withstand that extra hp and if so what upgrades would be needed? Any info would be appreciated.

    Upgrade! One way to go is put on your extra horsepower then see if it blows or not, or if your looking to get money out of it go ahead and do the swap early. Either way its gonna be a lotta stress on that stock tranny and I think you'll really like the performance of a built tranny. I also recommend a new torque converter or 3000 stall. I know other members around here know more about this than I do.

    get it built at a trans shop, or look online for a transmission rated for your hp

    I looked into beefing one of these trannies up some years ago. The 700R4/4L60/4L60E family. The stock 4L60E is supposed to be good to about 350hp then problems start. You can beef them up to double that. The outfit I looked at that was popular at the time makes trannies called "Raptor" and "MegaRaptor". Just Google them. Good place to do research. Also check out "Monster Transmissions". They do trucks and cars as well as 4L80E transmissions.

    Doing the run it and see will be a hard lesson learned if that is your primary transportation. I tried that theory before with a 4L60 and Dana 36 rear end to see which would give out first. Didn't much matter, the car didn't go anywhere for a while.
