    Default Intake gasket leaks anti-freeze

Hi, I have a 1999 suburban with a 5.7, 87,000 miles. It is leaking fluid from the back of the engine, drivers side. It looks like it's coming from where the intake manifold and head/block meet. Do I need a new gasket? If so ,any tips on how to or what gaskets to use? Thank you.

The proper way to fix it would be to replace the gasket, but I would try tightening the bolts a little bit first. Go easy here, just check & see if they are as tight as the others.

Another thing you could try, but is not recommended except as a last resort if you really hate engine work would be to try a can of Barrs Leak. Only use 1/2 of the small bottle/can. Get an even mixture of the pellets & the liquid. Give it a couple hours of running to circulate completely. If the leak persists add the rest of the can & give it a couple of days to seal. If it hasn't stopped, then you'll just have to replace the gasket...

If it comes down to needing gaskets use GM.....

That gen of Vortec 305s & 350s are notorious for loosing intake gaskets. I wouldn't wait another day to get it repaired. I replaced mine last spring. After seeing how it all works, it's obvious that a small leak could become a catastrophic failure without notice. Fill the lifter valley with coolant, you'll likely be replacing the engine.
