Thread: shoot to kill

    Default shoot to kill

POLK COUNTY FLORIDA SHERIFF GRADY JUDD

An illegal immigrant in Polk County Florida who got pulled over in a routine traffic stop ended up killing the deputy who stopped him.
The deputy was shot eight times, including once behind his right ear at close range.
Another deputy was wounded and a police dog killed.

    A state-wide manhunt ensued.
The murderer was found hiding in a wooded area and as soon as he took a shot at the SWAT team, officers opened fire on him. They hit the guy 68 times. Naturally, the liberal media went nuts and asked why they shot the poor undocumented immigrant 68 times.
In response Sheriff Grady Judd told the Orlando Sentinel: "Because that's all the ammunition we had."
Now, is that just about the all-time greatest answer or what?

The Coroner also reported that the illegal man died of natural causes. When asked by a reporter how that could be since there were 68 bullet wounds in his body, he simply replied "When you are shot 68 times, you are, naturally, gonna die."

Sorry to hear that one of law enforcements finest died in this altercation. As for the illegal alien/criminal... he got what he deserved. I have NO SYMPATHY for illegal aliens, or legal aliens, or any other criminal who breaks the laws. It's time we stopped coddleing criminals & start treating them the way they treat us.... No mercy....screw em.... I would have used every clip I had on that muther f...er

how could anyone shoot an officer of the law ??...we had one of our own killed in the line of duty about 7 years ago---teenager faked who he was and knifed the officer in the dark and is now in prison for life---still don't no how anyone would have the guts or audacity to do this.

Because criminals just don't care WTF they do, or who they do it to!! Several years ago a Sheriff here picked up a guy that was stranded out on the road & was giving him a ride into town, & the mf just shot him for no reason. He was a parolee from somewhere who had been in prison for a home invasion & raped a mother & daughter.
Of course the bleeding hearts on the jury felt sorry for the poor criminal, (since he had a bad childhood & it must not have been his fault) & they gave him a light sentence so he can be parolled later & do it all over again.
If the moronic liberals don't get their judicial act together soon, & stop babying criminals, this whole country is going to revert back to the vigilante justice of the old west.

That guy needs put down, firing squad style...but seriously, I HATE how the justice system is run...it should be eye for an eye. but people constantly whine "oh he just raped and killed somebody, but hes not a bad person. slap him on the wrist and let him out"

I think this story is missing a lot of important parts.
If you check Polk Co. Fla. the last police officer to die in the line of duty was in 2006, another officer was wounded in the same incident and a police dog was killed, the deceased suspect was not an illegal immigrant.

I hate to hear of law enforcement and other public service officials being killed like that. I've personally known too many law enforcement agents who have been wounded and killed in the line of duty. It's never good to hear.

I do have to say, though... That statement ("Because that's all the ammunition we had.") makes my heart warm. People should always have compassion for being a part of another human being's death, but sometimes, you've got to let folks know that you don't regret it. There's absolutely no reason for any media outlet to question the death of a suspect who fires at police officers.

I don't see what the posted story is missing. A few things may have been added but it seems pretty accurate to me. This was, by no means a recent story, but here is the actual account from the Polk Co. Sheriff's Office web site:

    "September 28, 2006

Deputy Sheriff Vernon “Matt” Williams, along with his K-9 partner Diogi, was the first backup unit on-scene to assist a traffic deputy with apprehending a suspect who had fled into a wooded area off of Wabash Avenue in Lakeland on September 28, 2006. Deputy Sheriff Williams and Diogi went into the heavily wooded area to search for the suspect, when the suspect fired several rounds at them while under thick cover of the woods. A short time later, the suspect re-appeared and fired several rounds at the traffic deputy, hitting him in the leg. The traffic deputy returned fire, and the suspect dived back down into the wooded brushy area for cover. Backup units quickly arrived and began searching the area for the suspect, and for Deputy Williams who was not responding to his radio.

Deputy Matt Williams was found about an hour after the exchange of gunfire under the thick underbrush, deceased, with his canine partner deceased next to him. His autopsy would reveal that he had been shot 9 times, and his dog had been shot once. The suspect remained at large until 9:35 a.m. the following day, Friday, September 29th, when a 10-member SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics) team located the suspect hiding, with Deputy Williams’ agency issued semiautomatic pistol in his hand. The SWAT team fatally shot the suspect.

Deputy Sheriff Matt Williams was 39 years old at the time of his death. Diogi was 3 years old at the time of his death."

And the last Polk Co. Deputy to die in the line of duty was in 2009. Not 2006.

I'd like to apologize. I didn't mean to laugh in my first post because the loss of a officer or anyone is a very serious issue but I didn't know if this story was for real or not! I hadn't heard any news on it and I since it sounded pretty serious I would've heard of it already. But thanks for the post silverstepside

No worries Nutbush. The only reason I knew it was real was because a friend of mine in Fla. had told me about it. With some of the wording "Because that's all the ammunition we had." "died of natural causes." "When you are shot 68 times, you are, naturally, gonna die." it's pretty easy to be confused as to whether or not it was a true account, or just an internet spoof.
