So what you're telling me is: I should STOP dumping it down that drain by the curb just down the street? Lol of course, like everyone else, I'm kidding, just seeing how long before the joke gets old.

I'm in Canada. Local Recycling Depot takes my oil, or as mentioned by others - camp fires when wood is soaked. Diesel is also great for that.

Walmart takes it for free and it's closer than the auto shops.

we have curbside recycling of used motor oil in my community. you have to used specially labeled 1-gallon milk jugs, but the recycling folks pick them up weekly and even take the old oil filters. pretty nice.

So, my local auto parts place will take the used oil, but not the filter. I have to take a special trip to the landfill for that. So, when I change my oil, it's a 70 mile round trip to go to the parts store, the landfill and back home. Thank you rural America!

I save mine till & have about 10 gallons & then use it to catch fish. I pour it all over the lake & then just start scooping up the fish. It works great. I always limit out, & so far the game wardens haven't caught me. Next year I'm going to start using dynamite cuz I've heard it works even better
