Nice. So how much time would be involved in one of these swaps if there were no snags involved? I would drive the 4769 miles to get one done if the timing wouldn't be too bad. I would enjoy an expensive road trip there, then a much more affordable one back. Have a vacation use a rental while you did the work if it worked right.

Gas-shell regular- is $3.06 here in NOLA now. I think it was back in 2008-soon after the economy tanked-when it was last this high. After the economy tanked it went all the way down to $1.50 here. It has now more than doubled.
If the economy improves there is no reason it won't be at $3.50 this summer.
Sucks of course-glad I have the Prius and only use the Suburban 60 miles/week.
A good diesel could save you 25% in fuel cost even considering the diesel premium-close to $400/yr for an average 10,000 mile per year driver- a lot more if you tow or put more miles on it.
If it gets 60% better FE( 13 vs 20 mpg)- you could save almost $1000/yr.
It could pay for itself with higher gas prices-especially since lots of folks here keep their vehicles for 10-20 years.

What discs are you going to use for the rear brake conversions Scott? Do you know anything about those aftermarket light weight discs? Are they really expensive?
