Default How to drop NBS spare tire

I know the right way to do it, but the old owner managed to strip the head of the area where you put the tire iron/extension thing in near the rear bumper. Any ideas on how to drop it now?

Do you have a local chevy dealer? They sell a part (used to be free but that recall ended). Its basically just like the metal rod you used to use to slip through the bumper and tube, but this one is like a flex material with rubber around it.

basically it allows it to "wiggle" around in there and catch that nut and loosen it. thats about the only way you are going to get that thing out that I know of. Since the bolt holding the entire assembly on is above the tire itself.

And just FYI, its not the fellas fault it stripped, its a poor design by GM, hence the free (not anymore lol) little extension. I cant find mine right now or I'd take a pic of it for you. i think it was like 12 bucks.
