    The saga continues....

Went to parts store and got a new switch. My friend was mistaken, and the continuity points are the same as the original switch, but I do get better continuity on one point with the new switch. I swapped out the plunger and plugged in the new switch. The dash lights flickered on for a sec, but then went right out. I jiggled and played with the connection and the dash lights again flickered on, but then again went out.

So... I went back to my notes from my call with the dodge serviceman. He said to check power at large pink and large red wire connector cavities with a test light. So, I did. No power at pink wire. He also said to check fuse #18 (which is a different fuse than I was told to check before). So I checked it. It's blown.

Of course, I don't have any extra fuses at the house and roomie has my truck at work. And even though roomie says he checked every fuse the 1st night, I don't know if the fuse has been blown all along or if it blew when I was testing new switch.

Not happy with myself for making a stupid beginner's mistake. :(

As soon as the sun rose this morning, I went outside, popped in a new fuse, checked pink wire at switch connector with test light, plugged in the new switch and voila! The damn dodge has lights again.

Not sure why the fuse blew... old age? faulty switch? short to ground in the wiring?

I guess if the fuse does not blow again... then it was either an old fuse or faulty switch. But if it does blow again... rut roh!

I guess maybe the water in the taillight's caused the fuse to blow !
