    Default 04 tahoe squeaking pulley sound

    hi everyone im haveing trouble finding where noise comeing from. it sounds like a squeaking belt pulley but it only squeaks when its damp or raining. it goes away when motor gets hot. no noise at all if wheather is dry even when truck sits for couple of days as long as its dry air. but a little snow or rain and it comes back on start up?

    When was the belt last replaced??? Since a worn belt will do that, as well as the AC belt and tensioner could be worn out.

    Get a Gatorback belt made by Goodyear. I had the same problem on my 2004 and this fixed it. The regular belts all did that squeeking thing.

    thanks guys the belts about 3 yrs old so ill try the new one hope its just the belt. im in new england 2 feet of snow on ground and no garage dont need a long job outside right now!! ha

    Since you plan on replacing the belt anyway, when you have the old belt off & before you put the new belt on, start the engine. If the squeak is still there then you know it is in the engine & wasn't the belt/pulleys or any of the the accessories it runs.
    1988 Chevy C-3500 2wd (no pic)
    350 c.i. 5.7 L Stock Block, 4 Bolt Mains
    L-31 Vortec Heads, Edelbrock Cam & Intake,
    Holley 650, Flowtech Headers, Magnaflow exh.
    Jet Trans 700R4, B&M Ratchet, 4:10 gears,
    3" susp. lift kit "shadetree"
    No rev limiter, No speed limiter lol
