I have a 1988 V20 4X4 Suburban. I have had some minor but bothersome issues with my transmission, but thanks to the very smart tranny guru on this site its is all better. However after 381,000 you might expect a little trouble. The truck has the 5.7 TBI engine, no smoke at start up, and quiet as a mouse when running. I tow a 18' single axle trailer and haul as much as 30 Squares of vinyl siding and accessories at a time, not all the time, but it pulls with no worries. She is a little tired, but has yet to fail me. I don't know of any other vehicle that will do this as long as this one has. Maybe the older Dodge with the 225 slant six and 727 torque-flight tranny, but thats it.

If anyone knows of a better combo, please let me know..

I've only got 86K on my 2006 K1500. Hoping to break at least 200K before even considering a replacement.

LOL i think im crazy....i have a 2005 Suburban 5.3L FlexFuel 4x4 with 231000 miles and the only issue ive had since mile 8 ( i bought it when i was 16 with 8 miles on it) is the powersteering ive replaced the gearbox and pump so thats my only complaint besides the stupid 4 speed tranny it could use a 5th gear really bad.... but its been used and abused, i just medically retired out of the army and i remember when i was in we would go down trails to the shooting ranges bouncing around in it and catching air all the time.... its been a great truck cant wait till the motor goes so i can put something bigger in there not sure what yet

I had a 1994 Sub with the 350 TBI, in 5 years of owning it and about 300,000 Kilometers, I changed an alternator and 2 fuel pumps. $750 in repairs in 5 years, and as for my 2004 Sub, 5.3 4x4, couple of upper ball joints and today the tranny, but in all honesty I could have toughed out the tranny for a few more months easy, I just didn't want to take the chance while hauling my TT and all the family. ( clutches are fried, but continued to be driveable ) Personally, I'm never going to drive anything else.
