Default S-10 Blazer Pushbutton 4X4 Problems

My 2000 S-10 Blazer 4X4 is having a bit of an issue with the 4wd kicking it. Im wondering what you all think. the switch works and if i let it think about it long enough it will kick in. Im thinking thermal switch? its been -10 at night so that is where i am at. However im not just going to replace parts.

The 2000 Blazer uses a vacuum actuator. Engagement should be almost instant. Sounds like you have a vacuum leak. Could be the diaphragm on the axle, vacuum switch, or loose/leaking vacuum line.

Use a hand vacuum pump to test the diaphragm on the axle. Should be able to engage the axle with just a few inches of vacuum I'm guessing. And it shouldn't have any leakdown.

interesting. Since after driving the truck home last night which is 25 miles or so i tried it as i was pulling into my driveway and it was immediate. but this morning when cold it wouldnt kick in. So that is why im wondering is the cold is messing something up. and as to checking out the vacuum that would require me getting under the truck in the cold snowbank. So i guess ill just run it till the end of the month when this nightmare will finally be gone and a new nightmare (truck) will be in my driveway.
thanks for the heads up on the vaccum problem since i thought they used the same actuator as the Silverado. So when i do wash it i will take a close look.
