    Post Leaking Intake Manifold Gasket

I have a 98 1500 w/ a 305 and the Intake Manifold is leaking coolant. I know that the Gasket is bad for the intake manifold and plan on replacing it, I was wondering if replacing the gasket would solve the leak or is there a more underlineing problem?

As long as you clean eveything well. And get good gaskets, it will fix the leak. Also flush the system really well, and put green coolant in instead of dex cool. Dex cool is alot of what caused them to fail, on top of cheap gaskets.

If you search some there is a thread that goes over the better gaskets and also the actual part numbers so when you go to the parts store you can order the exact one.

I had to do this to my 97 2 yrs ago !!....buy the premium gaskets that are offered from a reputable parts store.Take your time when doing the reinstall, dry fit the intake a few times so you know what it feels & looks like(i had to mine 2x cuz i was rushed). One thing that should be on the top of your list as you begin,MARK THE DISTRIBUTOR LOCATION !!!(housing as it leave the manifold and rotor location)..that way she'll drop right back in nicely when you reassemble. The repair took about 3 hours finally, but has been good since.
