    Question Throwin P0131 repeated

Hey there! Just joined the forum, always good to have somewhere to turn to for opinions.

Anyhow, have a 98 sierra Z71 with a 305. Truck has some problems Im tryin to get to the bottom of but this one just came up and is affecting the truck quite a bit.

Had the codes pulled and its throwin P0131 twice.

Say Im cruisin along and hit the gas to shift down a gear the rpms will drop and shell spit and sputter. This will even accur in neutral. Wont go past round 2500/3000 rpms in neutral. It will eventually get so bad that its nearly impossible to leave a red light until you re fire the truck. Just replaced the fuel filter yesterday in hopes of a solution.

    Any thoughts?

Trouble Code P0131......means that the following has happened.....On Bank 1 Sensor 1
which is the 02 Sensor located in front of the Catalytic Converter....

    • Faulty 02 Oxygen Sensor
    • Short to voltage on 02 signal circuit
    • High resistance or Open on 02 signal circuit

    • Possible Solutions
    • Replace Faulty Sensor
    • Repair short, open, or high resistance on 02 signal circuit

I would start with a tune up plugs, wires, clean the MAF sensor new air filter. Then go from there, my buddies s10 blazer did something similar to what yours is doing turned out that the wire from the coil to the distributor was rotted at idle and normal driving it was fine until you floored it then you could watch the coil arc out through the coil wire grounding itself on whatever it could find including me once and it would spit, sputter and almost die until the rpms came back down and it would stop idle normal until you rev'ed it up again.
