Thread: heater problem

    Default heater problem

Just had head gasket replaced on 2001 Silverado and now the heater only blows lukewarm air. Could the heater problem be related to the gasket replacement or is it just a coincidence?

I think what you have is an air bubble in the heater core that wont pass. You could disconnect your hoses at the engine & bleed the bubble out, or park your vehicle with the radiator cap uphill, (cap at the highest point) take the cap off & run the engine & refill the rad as the air bleeds out.
** It's most likely not just coincidence. When they replace head gaskets they have to drain the coolant, & this allows air ingress that needs to be replaced with coolant after the repair.

ok. thanks for your thoughts. heater seemed a bit better on the weekend. its only been less than one week since gasket was done plus it has been cold the last few days. glad to hear it is probably not a heater core issue. will see if it works itself out. otherwise will try your suggestion.
