    Default Thermostat ~ 2010 Tahoe

I have a 2010 Tahoe with the 5.3 L engine. I currently live in New Jersey . My wife and I want to move to South Carolina. I looked on the internet to find out if S.C. has a vehicle inspection, according to what I found I do not think they have any inspection.
The vehicle as you know has a 210 degree thermostat in it.
What if I put a 190 degree thermostat in it.
I do not like the thought of running the engine with that high of a degree setting, especially in the summer in S.C.
Would that mess up the computer input , would the computer say-- put a richer fuel into the injectors? Would the truck run the same as if it had the 210 Degree therm. in it .Would the fuel mileage change?
I plan on keeping the truck for a long time . My last truck was a 1994 Suburban that I put over 220 ,000 on it , [ a great truck] if it werent for the salt on the roads in N.J. I would still have it. I have been using Mobil 1 oil since 1981 .
Thanks in advance for your replies.

Leave the 210 Tstat in it the computer is set to run with the 210 (actually runs closer to 200 or less) running any cooler will effect fuel milage etc.. I lived in Ga for 5 years with a 210 t-stat there isnt anything to worry about todays motors bleed off heat alot faster than your 94 Iron block burban did.

Your truck has a 195 degree (its really a 187, but GM calls it a 195). Leave in your stock stat. If you hook up a scanner to your truck and drive it when its warmed up you will see your truck is running about 190 degrees, even though the trucks temp gauge says 210 degrees. Don't ask me why but they all seem to be that way.

I would recommend contacting your local dealership for more information regarding the effects of changing the thermostat. They are in the best position to discuss the situation. I would also recommend contacting a dealership where you are moving regarding the standards in the area. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me directly. Thank you.
