    Default Solid Lifters

    What do you guys think of running solid lifters on the street? Good Bad? My wifes jeep has a bored 283 and the previous owner put in solid lifters.

    '96 K1500, 5.7
    6" RCD
    35" Toyo M/T On 16" Black Raceline Raptors
    4.56 Yukon Gears w/ TruTrac Rear
    S&B CAI
    Dual Flowmaster 40's
    Camo Wet Okoles
    Line-X Bedliner
    De-Badged

    For me they're kind of a PITA adjusting them all the time, but if you enjoy it, then they're ok for the street.
    1988 Chevy C-3500 2wd (no pic)
    350 c.i. 5.7 L Stock Block, 4 Bolt Mains
    L-31 Vortec Heads, Edelbrock Cam & Intake,
    Holley 650, Flowtech Headers, Magnaflow exh.
    Jet Trans 700R4, B&M Ratchet, 4:10 gears,
    3" susp. lift kit "shadetree"
    No rev limiter, No speed limiter lol

    If you can change them yourself I would change them out. As stephan said there a pain. Most people I know that use them are for high performance radical motors, not dailey drivers.

    I gotta agree unless you've got a performance engine you dont mind tinkering with often I wouldnt run solid lifters.

    Thanks, actually the originals were Hydraulic lifters, I made a mistake and listened to the parts guys. All good picked up a set of hydraulic and put them in soon. And I WILL be getting my money back from the solids!!!!
