    Default 4l60e Transmission issues

    Ok so i got an issue with my 4l60e trans. I dont have a 1st or 4th gear and my expertise with vehicles ends at the transmission(havent had the time to pull one apart and learn about them i know a little but stumped on this problem)

    - no 1st or 4th gear even if i manually **** to them, 2nd and 3rd work fine as long as i upshift and downshift into them

    - if put in drive the truck starts in 3rd

    - dont have a scan tool so im kinda working blind nor have access to one

    - i was told to replace shift solenoid A so i did and looking back now i should have replaced both ill relpace the second one next paycheck, either way the issue persists

    Can anyone give me a solid list of problems both electrical and mechanical or a list of solutions for this so i can start knocking them out and i can finally fix this damn thing

    Welcome to the club. I assume by your avatar you talking about a '93 truck. How many miles on the transmission??

    oops looks like i left out info, im still new to forums in general...1993 Chevy 1500 2wd 5.7L and 4l60e trans

    umm it was rebuilt like 3 months ago so 1000 to 2000 thousand maximum

    Have you taken it back to the guys who rebuilt it? I would start there.

    Thanks man...from reading that sounds like the sucker is stuck in limp mode. Now to figure out the electrical malfunction

    Ok managed to get some codes

    16 - low system voltage
    15 - Engine coolant temp sensor error (low temp indicated) but my gauge reads engine temp is normal
    13 - Left bank O2 sensor circuit open or no activity

    ive heard these transmissions are wired to a circuit that has many sensors, im guessing these are the ones that are on the circuit cuz the are the codes that came up. And the trans fuse blows at the turn of the key. Now my question is could this be cause by a bad ground connection somewhere?

    bad grounds dont usually blow fuses they just cause stuff to not power up. check you O2 sensor harnesses underneath the truck se if they are shorting out on something. its a stab in the dark but u might have ryn over something that caught one of the wires.
