Thread: Bad Fuel Float?

    Default Bad Fuel Float?

Hey got my 98 K1500 with Vortec 350, I'm thinking my float in the tank is bad cause from the line above E on my gas gauge I can put around 15 gallons in it and it will go past the Full mark and I know that is a 25 gallon tank under this thing, so im guessing its either got more gas than its telling me or less, Any Ideas? Thanks

Check the wiring in the vicinity of the tank first. A bad connection/frayed wire will make the gauge do all sorts of interesting things.

Ok I'll do that whenever It quits raining, the way it acts to me is that its got more gas in it then what it says 15 gallons aint gonna fill it up and by the time im on E ive went 200-220 miles so I know that gauge aint reading right I just hope I don't need to put a new unit in cause I aint sure I can just fix the float or whatever is wrong cause the pumps fine.
