    Default Taxes Due Tonight!

Ok, this is something I have put off, but it took me a LONG time to get my taxes done. Just finished and now I have to run down and mail in my tax check! NEARLY $7,800 I have to pay in ... wow, really not liking the fact that 1/2 the country isn't going to pay anything in taxes.

The only good thing (if there is such a thing) about paying that much in taxes, is knowing that you made a lot of money last year

self-employment taxes for all of my side-projects, so there was no withholding.

I think that if the 50% of people who pay taxes actually had to mail in a check every year ... politicians who were in favor of less social programs and lower taxes would be voted in a major landslide.

I agree, i have my opinions on taxes etc, and know that for the last 6 years that my wife and i have been married we didnt have to pay in but we got nothing back, then i look at people who didnt do anything getting easily what you paid in back. Tax code needs an update for sure.

Yeah, and again this is a TRUCK website and not a political website. However, I do not think it's good for a man to just live and sponge off the work of others, that's immoral and it's actually HARMFUL to the character of the person who is getting welfare.

So, I think that everyone should pay taxes and no one should get off with paying zero taxes.

What's worse is that some people will make so little money, but they get their credits back to them so they end up MAKING MONEY when they file a tax return. They will get everything back and then some.

Steve I hope that was one of your "quarterly' estimated payments. If you owed that much on the entire 2010 income, there would be a big penalty.
and I would like to say congratulations!, thks for contributing!..

ya, agreed, I paid just mailed in a check for 600 bucks, and that's after paying almost 17k throughout the year in federal taxes alone, yet my cousin who works a minimum wage job and is married with 3 curtain climbers paid in like 2k and got back 8k, somethings wrong here.... I say 10% flat tax, everybody pays 10%, no shelters, no discounts, just 10% from everyone, then the rich would pay in instead of the zero the pay now with their loopholes, and the poor would pay in a small amount, everybody is contributing, and less IRS agents, yay! lol
