    Default Gauges quit working....

Hey guys n gals. About a week ago my gas gauge temp gauge oil pressure gauge, voltage gauge all quit working also my battery light and abs light came on. Along with all of this i cant roll down my windows or adjust my power mirrors. If you guys can save me from taking this truck to the stealership I would really really appreciate it. Thanks everyone!!! I have checked every fuse in the truck twice under the hood and in the door jam...

I have a couple of questions to try to help you out here.

First: when you say every fuse, I assume you mean literally every fuse, not just the ones that seem relevant? If you haven't, check things like the radio fuse.

Next: Do you have any other issues with anything that might be tied to the computer (digital climate controls if you have them, radio, lights, anything like that)? The reason I ask is that you seem to have a lot of seperate issues that the only common thing I could think of would either be your body control module (BCM) or one of the Class 2 Data wires that allows the BCM to communicate with other modules such as the PCM for gauge information or your window switch, since the switches on the newer trucks are computer controlled.

I would suspect some Class 2 Data issues on this problem, so I would suggest finding and checking as many of those wires for a short as possible. If you need, I can track down the wire colors and/or diagrams for you.

If nothing else, you will have to go to the dealer so they can use the Tech 2 to find the codes that your electrical system will be storing for that type of issue that normal code readers cant access. If you have a good dealer like my local one, labor might be pricey, but my local dealer has some of the best diagnostics guys around. i just did work study with them, so I have become fairly informed on the process of how a good technician will find and fix an issue like that.

I have to agree. if it was just the guage cluster acting up then i would lean twards the typical GM cluster problem, however you have BCM controlled issues as well such as the windows!!!

While I agree with the possibilities that the others have listed, could this be a common dash ground has come loose??

I'm not familiar with the grounds on the dash, but this could be a potential cause. If the gauges share a ground with the BCM, or even if just a BCM ground is bad, I would think that could cause BCM and computer issues. One more thing to check before going to the dealer, but the ground distribution schematics would probably be needed.

Your insurance may cover the damage from the battery acid. Had a leaking battery that blow-up in ex-wifes Jetta and insurance (State Farm) covered it.
