    Question a few problems, 2010 2500 crew cab 6.0L 32,000 miles

2 problems to be exact. Would like to ask you folks a few questions about them.

    1. Had the front brake pads and slider clip that they pads sit in replaced under warranty a few weeks ago. Truck developed a rattle noise up front everytime I hit a bump, little or big, so I took it into the dealer and they stated " we have been having some problems with the 3/4 and 1 ton trucks where the slider clips wear out if the truck is driven on rough roads alot and allows the brake pads to move around in the caliper. Dealer stated that, and I quote! "since this is a known problem, GM will only cover the repairs once under warranty, any repairing after will be out of your pocket".....Has anyone heard of this problem, and does his response sound like the biggest piece of bull anyone has ever heard???? a known problem by GM and they wont repair it!?.....

    2. I know this is a reoccuring problem not just on my truck but.........my 17" aluminum rims are corroding(sp?), not only where the wheel weights are, but in other spots to, and this is after i keep them waxed. Will GM replace my rims for me before my warranty expires? Has anyone else had this problem and gotten GM to fix it?

    Thanks Folks

Your dealer service adviser is a jackass! Find another dealer. If that dealer has jacksses like this working for them I'd stay away from them. They most likely had another jackass work on your truck and he F'ed it up.

I would be happy to look into this for you. In order to do more research, I will need some more specific information from you such as your name, address, phone number, the VIN for the vehicle, current mileage, and dealer name. If you have further questions, please feel free to contact me either on the thread or via private message. Thank you.

    Tricia, GM Customer Service.

I've never heard of a dealer only doing a " warranty covered repair" once. If your truck's still under warranty, then as long as it keeps failing they have to keep repairing it. Your serv rep saying "only one repair per problem" is a bunch of horse sh!t.
Sorry I don't know about your wheels. Check your owners manual & see what it says about corrosion. This may not be covered because of so many different things that cause it that are beyond the manufacturers control, like salt on the roads etc.

Sorry, maybe i should have made myself more clear. Had the rattle in the brakes fixed at almost 30,000 miles, almost 33,000 on truck now, odds are the rattle isnt going to come back in the next 3,000 miles to still be under warranty. even out of warranty, shouldnt a "known, re-occuring problem" be covered by GM?? The tech guy at my GM dealer basically told me the rattle is going to happen again, just depended on the type of roads i drove on as to how soon.

If there are enough of these GM could make it a recall & then it would be ongoing after warranty. Sometimes a dealer will "goodwill" a warranty repair after you're out of warranty if you've had a record of complaint or previous repairs to a particular problem, but that is kind of hit & miss. Maybe Tricia from GM customer service can weigh in on this & post their policy here on the open forum rather than in pm, so we can all learn just what GMs policy is on this.
