New EGR valve and Vacuum Solenoid; Service Engine Soon light on
I've had an off and on engine light issue; on long trips the Service Engine Soon light would come on. It would then go for days without coming on. NEXT, I take it for state inspection today and it fails on the NOx levels. My mechanic makes a quick check and has me change the EGR valve. I went into town and got a Delco EGR valve at his recommendation and changed it. When starting it now, it runs rough for 5 or 6 seconds, then gos to a smooth idle but the Service Engine Soon light stays lit the entire time. I changed the Vacuum Solenoid between the intake and the EGR but no difference.
Any ideas? Its back to the mechanic tomorrow if you guys don't have any ideas. I have to get it inspected before going on a job in Houston next week.
