Definitely put it on in the shade.

I also use that wax after a good clay barring. I won't use anything else.

Zymol for me. It's not cheap, but I had a 2007 Mustang GT, in for a front facia replacement come back from the body shop with a detailing. They used Zymol clay bar and liquid cleaner wax on it. I honestly thought they had repainted the whole car and color sanded it, it looked SO different. I can't wait for warmer weather so I can apply this stuff to the black Suburban we now have.

I find the wax at Autozone or places like it.

I will usually do a good name brand carnauba wax from Autozone. But those times I have been in a hurry, or had somewhere to be I have had surprisingly good luck with the Quick Wax brand spray on wax. Seems to hide the small scratches pretty good.

If I have time, I use a paste wax. More durable, lasts the longest. 3M Show Car Paste Wax, Meguiars Yellow No. 26 are two that I like. Both also come in a liquid form. But I have used a lot of different products that run the range of pricing, and they all have produced a great shine, some lasting longer than others. Including cheap Kit Wax. I don't recommend using that one on new paint, but if the vehicle is more than a year old, you can use it, but it is a cleaning wax. 3M makes a number of really good paint detailing products, some only available at auto body suppliers.

One person mentioned Klasse. I like their products too. The All In One red container is great. You can finish over that with the silver bottle, which seals real well.

    Mother's pure carnuba wax.

Collinite is an old product that is very good. Basic wax products that don't have all the fancy claims of ingredients like most others.

Turtle Wax in the green bottle is great on chrome and for quick cleaning and waxing of smaller areas that may have some blemishes or for older cured paint with fine scratches.

You can't get a mirror shine with wax. No wax does that. The paint has to already be glassy smooth. You have to use an orbital polisher with compound or wet sand with real fine sandpaper, then compound, glaze and seal to get it smooth first. Then wax it. Then you have that mirror shine.

I started to use this stuff in the early 90's when I bought a used s10 that the paint didn't have that pop to it. I used these products on the truck and it brought the luster back to the truck. It is time consuming but I am a lot OCD about how clean my truck is. I only use this stuff twice a year. Maybe three times depending on how much I take it off road. I apply all three steps with the round applicators you get from AutoZone. I think they are a padded terry cloth but not sure. Then I remove it with a standard terry cloth. I use a different applicator for each step and do the same to remove it also.
Pretty much exactly this. I did this for the first time many years ago on an old 74 pontiac catalina station wagon that used to be my great grandfather's and had sat in the garage for several years. It impressed me so much I began doing it with all my vehicles ever since.

I grew up with my dad always using Rain Dance carnuba wax and he swore by it, but I havne't seen that stuff for sale in probably 10 years.

Dylan, that looks incredible. I think I might have to go ahead and change up my plan. I'm going to have to get myself some of that and try it out next time I detail the truck.
