A/C System Discharging
While troubleshooting a recent issue with my a/c system in my 1996 GMC Suburban K2500 (5.7l, 4x4, 238,000+ miles) I put a 5oz can of the colored dye.
What I'm noticing is that there is a lot of dye around the coupling that connects to the top of the compressor. This coupling is a male connection that fits into the compressor with a single bolt to connect the two parts.
Could someone tell me;
1. What the coupling is called?
2. Is this part something that can purchased through other than through a dealership?
3. Are there gaskets to tighten up this connection?
4. Is this a common point of failure?

That's the AC hose assembly. There are two o-rings where it connects to the compressor. You may just need to replace the o-rings. The hose is available from most auto parts stores.When you hear hoofbeats, look for horses not zebras.
