    Default 2000 C3500 rear drum

    I have a 2000 c3500 not a dually and I am wondering if the rear drums will just come off or if I have to take the whole assembly off to change them. I have been trying for about 20 minutes to get the drum off by tapping the backing to possibly get it loose. If you can help me please do! Thanks ~Nick

    I believe for a SRW 3500, the drum should just slide off without having to remove the hub. It should be pretty obvious if the drum is behind the hub. If it is indeed behind the hub, you have to pull the axleshaft and hub to get the drum off. This is what a drum-behind-the-hub setup looks like:

    And this is what a drum in front of hub setup looks like:

    For this setup, the drum should just slide off easy after loosening the brake adjuster.
