    In my last thread here (about our trip up the mountain), Steve replied
    Wow, 8000 feet, that's crazy. Where was this taken at? In Utah? Highest I think I've driven (that I can remember) is 5200 feet at Paradise near Mt. Rainier.
    We decided to one-up ourselves, so we went camping over by Rocky Mountain National Park this last week. Drove up over Trail Ridge Road (12000 feet). Saw some elk. My dad saw a moose apparently going after some fisherman on the Colorado River. Got rained on for a couple of days. The kids got to catch some crayfish in Lake Granby. We caught some brook trout in a small pond above Kremmling (and got a flat tire). Some coyotes raided camp one night and got a way with some ham and turkey from my brother's cooler before he could run them off. Another successful camping trip.

    Wow! How did your burb handle in that high altitude? What octane gasoline did you run up there?

    Burb did fine. Of course, trail ridge road is pretty narrow and windy, and with the road construction it was pretty hard to open it up. Parking was a pain in some places, because it was crowded and the burb is so long.

    I just used whatever octane they were selling as regular unleaded in Granby. 85 or 86 octane, I would guess.

    That is a fun area. I've been there too. Was on a car club cruise. Good ol' 12,183 feet above sea level. Going down was the fun part. Glad to hear you had some fun. Did you notice the hotel in Estes that was used for The Shining?"

    We didn't get over to Estes Park. We came in and went out the West entrance.
