    Question Gas Tank

What vehicles will a gas tank interchange with a 86 Suburban 40 gallon?
96 Chevy Suburban with a 350. Pretty much stock for now. Mods to come.

virtually any 40 gallon fuel tank from that bodystyle will fit. The only thing to note is that there is/was 2 different styles of tanks, however, I'm no sure a 40 was produced in both styles. The first one is the center mounted tank, which is pretty squarish. The other is an offset side tank, which is rectangular shaped. I think all the suburbans with 40 gallon tanks of that bodystyle wer the center sqaurish ones, but I could be wrong. Hope this helps some...

My 86 Surb is a large flat square tank mounted between the frame rails. The real thing that may make the difference is my 86 Surb, fills from the passengers side. The filler tube is formed steel then flex . If the substitute tank does not fill from the right side it will never work.

I think the 92's were the first year for left side filler???

Check a local yard for exchange lines.

    Good Luck
