I'm looking at wheels on craigslist. there is a set of 8-lug rims w/tires off of a dodge...is there a difference in the 8-lug bolt pattern between GM and Chrysler? I have a 89 s2500 suburban.
judging from the parts suburban a collegue of mine has, didge rims will fit. that truck had some dodge rims that I'm guessing came off of a durango on an 88 or 89

Both use a 8 x 6.5 bolt pattern. Most use a 9/16 or 14mm lug. Wheel offset might be the only challenge. Proper offset would be important for fenderwell clearance and interference with the front suspension and steering. Stagewest 4x4 has a good reference chart.
