Actually the Z71 is taller than the 2wd silverado. When i first got my truck which is a z71 and my buddy had a 2wd the z71 sits up higher believe it or not. Also with my 98 2wd i use to have my buddy had the same thing 98 z71 it sat higher than the 2wd there is a reason for that.

All together the z71 and 2wd have around a 2.5 inch difference that is comparable with the z71 1500 and the 2500hd z71 pretty simple too know..

I completely disagree. On the older platforms yes...on these? No. Minor variances in ride height are out there, but for all intents and purposes, these trucks have the same suspension system. Do you really think GM changed the crossmembers, uca's, etc on the Z71 to accomodate for a 2.5" ride height increase? Of course they didn't. Go to a dealership with a tape measure and you will see. Heck, just go look at the suspension angles of any of the variations of the 1500.

I've always thought the nose of the 2wd sat down more than the 1500's just like the older models.

I have to agree with Black07, the older body style trucks, 90-99 and 2000-2006 did have a differance in height due to stiffer front torson bars and rear springs, basiclly they were light duty 3/4 ton parts.
