2001 2500HD Instrument Panel Problem

Those rough Baja roads took a real toll on the truck. The gauges started working intermittently, the msg center flashes on and off, cruise control quits... the odometer doesn't count the mileage when the truck is rolling and the gauges have quit... figuring out how much gas I have in the tank is now guesswork. Has anyone else had or seen this problem before?

This is the sort of problem that you need a trained and knowledgeable service tech for but where do you find one of those? Certainly not up here in the Yukon. A local mechanic told me that the instrument cluster has to be replaced but I don't think that'll do it and I'm not willing to pay a thousand bucks to find out. I will be in southern California around February... can anyone recommend a good Chevy service center?

I take my vehicles to John at AutoWrench in Hesperia Ca. Honest, is the best word that describes John. He is a GM fan. He owns several Corvettes and Cadillacs and his mechanics park their gorgeous Camaros out front. He doesn't take just any work, (He knows that other shops may be better equipped, or have more experience) and I've been sent elsewhere when he thinks I would be better served by another shop. Give him a call and describe your trouble. He will be glad to offer his advice. If you have any Yukon "Gold" stories, I'm sure he'll be glad to hear those as well.
