Default 2004 Silverado LS -DIC and Headliner questions

New to forum- New to Chevy. Couldn't pass on this 2004 LS 5300 extended cab with less than 50,000 miles. I have replaced the steering shaft. The DIC information center is fine when the vehicle is first started but becomes very dim and very hard to read as the vehicle is driven. The radio illumination is fine. The next issue is the headliner. Where it buts into the door seal it shows some gaps (very poor fit).
My sons 2002 is the same. If a trim cap had been used this would be a non issue. Has any one found a good fix for this problem as it would appear that headliner will eventually start to delaminate at this point. A replacement headliner would just be more of the same and not fix the potential problem. Your help and advise is appreciated. Hey guys and gals. Help is needed. The dim DIC must be a common problem. Any Ideas?
