Thread: Crazy vibration

    Default Crazy vibration

I have a 99 suburban 1500 4x4 and it has a wild roar/vibration in the 60 to 70 mph range. I've replaced the tires, had them balanced and checked again. Did alignment and finally took it to sears to see if they could figure it out. Guy says it's the front diff. Not sure as I drained all the fluid and was dirty but no metal. Perhaps wheel bearings? I love the truck but damn I'm perplexed.

What shape are the Ujoints in? that could be it as well. without hearing the noise it is harder to diagnose but i would start with checking the U-joints and go from there

They are quite old. I picked the truck up in a swap so I've been trying to fix it on my own. The former owner said he fixed everything himself and from what I've seen I'm not impressed. I'll pick up some u-joints and start there as well as going through and change all the fluids.

Also yes the front diff could be out but that would be a bit different and a wheel bearing starts off humming and just gets louder with speed
