- River Ridge Louisiana-4 miles W of New Orleans-didn't flood-water stopped 800 yards away.
I still see 96-99 Suburbans-454-for $5000 or less here in NOLA.
Expensive fuel means cheap Suburbans-SB AND BB.
The FI ones will get BETTER FE than the carbed ones.
Of course if you are looking at a BB- FE isn't a concern
Yeah if you can sell your baby for $2000 you can get an updated BB Suburban for maybe just $3000 more-maybe one with a rebuilt trans and other recent service.

I have no idea why you would want a 454. I replaced my 454 in my 2500 and I was hoping to put in a 350 instead. It is a gas guzzling, low HP motor. Sure it's got some torque but, not enough to justify the cost in my experience.

I loved my 454 'Burb. Yes bad gas mileage but I used mine primarily to tow, so mileage was bad anyway. 10,000 Lb trailer is too much for 4:10 geared 350. 454 hardly knew it was back there. Kept my 454 when the old '79 rusted away. My current 350 powered '86 dually will get the 454 soon.
