I've read that plasti-dip peels right off. I wouldn't be comfortable using it as a base to paint upon.

You can use the most expensive paint on earth, but if the base isn't solid it won't matter. Your work looks great, but I wouldn't risk it. I've read several threads about this stuff flaking as well as guys peeling it off after a while to change the look. That's not a good paint base no matter how you look at it.

yea i guess it just comes down to personal preference on what you use. im thinking of getting a aftermarket bumper and grill just havent found a good combo yet and will probably colormatch them or do a black and white type thing. im curious to see how the winter will affect the grill and ill go from there but so far im impressed.

i agree that your gonna have to ask the seller if the grill is primer or not. and go from there. if its primer i would get paint that matches your truck if its black and then clear coat for a good gloss effect. house of colors is a good and affordable paint company i always use them.

It looks like the w/t grille which is textured and would involve a lot of sanding.

Has anyone dealt with the backup sensors? Should I paint around them or is painting them ok? I assume if you paint them it will give off the illusion that something is behind you all the time. My Silverado is taupe gray and I plan on having my grill and rear bumper matched to body paint as my mirrors and door handles are already done so. I also plan on blacking out my Bow Ties like I did on my 04' Tahoe Z71. Which all I used was a few coats of semi gloss black engine enamel. I did clean the surface first before painting but I didnt sand or prime it or use clear coat and its still there with no flakes or chips over two years later. Thank in advance for your advice.

Only a few bucks more, you are better off buying the primered peices online and painting instead of going over the chrome. That is what I am going to do.
