Front end humming/vibration and ABS going off when slowing to a stop
I have a 2003 Silverado 1500 4x4 5.3 auto with 125,000miles on it.
When I come to a stop the ABS is going off. I thought it was the wheel/hub bearings and was ready to go out and purchase the parts.
However, before I left I jacked the front end up to see which side had the failure so that I could buy the right part.
There is side to side movement on both front wheels.
There is no verticle movement on either of the front wheels.
This is my day off and it is one of the last warm days before winter sets in.
I would really like to get this thing fixed before the day is over, I am super frustrated right now.
Google searching 'bad tie rod symptoms' hasn't gotten me anywhere.
I havn't touched a tool but am already to start throwing them in anger....

Most of the the times rust corrodes and pushes the ABS sensor out of place causing the ABS to go crazy, mine did the same thing. Just sand down the surface rust and try keeping the hole clear of debris

The side to side play, you really need a second person because yo may just be taking out the slack in the steering It sounds to me that your wheel bearings are friend. Especially with the humming and vibration.Mike
