Thread: Exhaust Ideas

I was thinking about pulling the trigger on a single in dual out flowmaster muffler. I was gonna y-pipe it into the stock exhaust pipe with a nice tip or should I just get a single in single out flowmaster muffler. I would think I would get a better rumble with the single in dual out and the y-pipe, but I'm not quite sure.Year/Make/Model: 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
Powertrain: 4.8L V8, Automatic, 2wd
Tires/Rims: Stock rims and tires for now
Top 5 Mods: Straight piped exhaust, Billet Grille, Color-matched bowtie/shaved moldings, 12K HID's, Two 12" Kickers with a 1,000 watt amp
Next Planned mods: Truxxx Leveling Kit, Nitto Trail Grapplers, 15% Window Tint

I have a Dual in Dual out flomaster 40 series with a x pipe sounds deep and really good! I had straights that were loud but they dont sound nearly as good as this does! I'm thinking about taking flowmaster off and just running x pipe with straights it will make the tone deeper along with having big tips also.. i would go with the dual in dual out setup witha x pipe. www.autoanything.com has them they are the magnaflow tru x pipe already welded ready to go for around $85.

I was going to run the single in dual out with the Magnaflow y-pipe, stock pipe, and Gibson tip for now. Maybe somewhere down the road I will look into that though..

If you want a rumble, do a SI/SO flowmaster Super 44. My brother has those on his P71 crown vic with a 4.6 v8, and it rumbles great. That's just my .02

im running a single in dual out flowmaster super 40 (see the sig)
sounds great, and as long as you dont really rip on it sitting still, no crackle whatsoever.
just a nice deep, even tone.
go into my profile and into my photo album for a good pic of my tips. there 3 inch ID double walled. 18 long.
this whole setup was 480 installed. not cheap but totally worth it.

The reason why I was going to run a single in dual out with a magnaflow y-pipe is to get a nice rumble for now and then down the road when I can afford it is get custom made pipes to make it sound really good.

I was just wondering if it would sound good. I am probably gonna get the super 44 muffler.
