Default 1996 chevy 2500 rear end problems

I have a 1996 2500 extended cab long bed. When I turn to the left or right one of the wheels either locks up or skids. Any ideas? I have owned the truck for a year or so.

Check the RPO code list in the glove box for "G80." If it has the G80 locker installed, I would guess that something in the locker mechanism has failed causing the locker to be stuck in the engaged position. If it is a regular open differential, something might be stuck in the spider gears causing it to act locked up. In either case, you will probably end up pulling the cover off of the diff to look things over.
