97 Silverado 5.0L 4x4 - Need your thoughts
Been looking real hard for a 96-98 silverado 4x4 or Z71 with little to no rust... which is hard to find in this area (Illinois)
Found a 97 1500 silverado 4x4 with 155,000 miles... but it has the 5.0L vortec V8 instead of the 5.7L that I was originally looking for
Can anyone offer some insight about the 5.0L 305 V8 engine? I dont know much about it... does it offer the same longevity as the 5.7L... any major downside to the 305s?

Theres nothing wrong with the 305 it just makes less power then a 350, but the 96-99 Vortec 305 makes better power then the older pre 96 305. Its makes about the same power as a pre Vortec 350. Longevity wise it'll last the same as a 350 and you might even get better mileage.
