Default Helpful information on my truck problems please!

Hello my name is Bryan I am from Minnesota and I have recently bought a 1987 GMC Sierrar Classic Short Bed Pickup truck a couple months ago. Runs and drives just fine but there is a few problems with the truck that I cant seem to figure out on my own yet. The first problem is that I put new exhaust on it with Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers which sound incredible by the way. But even before when I would rev up the truck a few times clouds of white smoke always comes out. I heard it could be the valves need cleaning or something in the motor needs redueing. Another problem is when I turn left or right all the way it makes a loud squeaking belt sound what is the problem with that does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

Hi Brian and welcome to GMTC. If you post your question in the technical section you will get more visibility and quicker response to help you figure this out. When you post, please include the miles on the truck, and which engine you have. On cold start up do you see any white smoke? Are you finding that you have to add oil between changes? Assuming you are changing the oil at 3000 miles, if the answer is no to those two questions, I would not be concerned.

As for the squealing when turning, inspect your belts and make sure they are not worn or loose. I am not sure if the 87 used a serpentine belt or a tensioner like the trucks of the 90s.

You will find smarter guys that are just not much fun to look at in the technical forums. So please post this question there too.
