Default Selection of a replacement catalytic converter

(Ooops - I originally entered this as a blog - my mistake.)

OK guys. I have spent the better part of an hour looking at all the posts on catalytic converters. Lots of great info here!

One thing I did not really see is suggestions on selection of a replacement converter based upon needs/desires. I am sure there are those who want more performance and there would be a good choice for that. I simply want the truck to run like it was when it was new without needing further exhaust maintenance.

I have a 2003 Suburban 1500 4WD 5.3 Flex, with 128K on the clock stock except for the K&N filter, which I put on when it was new. It is throwing a P0430 (bank 2 after converter efficiency issue). I plan to research this a bit more, run some Seafoam and verify the sensor operation before I make the leap for new cats but would like to have the research behind me if and when the time comes.

So with that background I am hoping for suggestions on cat selections. I prefer to make choices that will last so I am thinking that the cat & exhaust system should be stainless rather than aluminized steel for longevity. As I said, I am not looking for more performance over the stock configuration - but am not against something that will provide this if it meets the longevity and durability requirements.

What is the downside of simply replacing the cats and having new ones welded in place?
Are the Magnaflow High Flow cats prone to causing other O2 sensor issues?
    Ceramic innards or metal?
Other than cost what is the downside of OE from the dealer.
What other issues should I be concerned with?

I plan to run this truck till the wheels fall off - so I would like this to be the last set of cats I put on it. I am just not clear on the best choice of a replacement for this purpose.

Any help or pointing me to a resource that can help would be greatly appreciated.

Magnaflow cats would be the way to go if it were me. My cousin's friend has them on his 5.9 Grand Cherokee and they seem pretty solid so far, the car runs great and they gave him some improvement in sound and performance too.

Thanks Silveradotrailblazer. I will follow up with Magnaflow and see what PN they suggest. So Telorvech, how long has your cousins friend had them on his Grand Cherokee?

    Nice looking trucks guys!

I think around 4-5 months now. The new cats are holding up great from what I've heard.
