total electric loss when starting
2000 silverado 5.3l 4x4
replaced battery...it was out of the truck for 24 hours. got in and had lights and everything. everything kicked on when i turned the key to accessory, but i got a TOTAL power loss when i turned the key to start it. I left the truck for a bit, came back and it started right up. odd.... so i took it to work yesterday and had the same problem. whwn it died i checked the connections and volts at rhe battery read 12.5 so i know the battery isnt being drained. All connections were clean and tight. power came back suddenly so i tried again and it killed all electric again. waited 10 minutes and it started. could it be the passlock security system or spmething that needs to be reset after the truck sits without a battery for 24 hours? thanks! sorry for some misspellings but i am posting this from my phone.

Good job on the spelling while using a cell phone. I would put my money on loose or corroded battery cables. If you put in a NEW battery that's what I think but if you put in a used battery then the battery could be defective. Did/can you check water level?

Check main ground from battery to engine..clean.at engine. Only thing security does cuts power to fuel pump.
