How to swap the rear axle stubs from a 1998 2wd to a 1995 4wd
Ok we had a 2wd truck that we took the rear end out of and, put in a 4wd truck. The 2wd truck has 5 lugs, and we need 6 lugs to complete the rear end swap, and get the truck back running. We still have the 6 lug axles from the 4wd still in its rear end. How difficult would it be to take the axles from the 6 lug, and put into 5 lug rear end? Bot rear ends are GM 10 bolts with the same size differental. Are the splines the same? What all would need to be done. Thanks for your help!

a 2wd axle is wider than the 4wd one so the shafts will not fit, the splines are the same its just axle length that is the issue, you would need custom shafts to have the 6 lug , be better to take the differential and swap it into the 4wd one as it's my guess that the 4wd one blew up on you to cause the swap in the first place?my 88 sas "mudwasp"
