Default Question from a new Suburban owner looking for chevy oem parts, chevy wheels

I just purchased a 1991 Chevy Suburban. It's a Silverado 2500. I have always admired the vehicles, and this one has low miles and is in great shape, I just couldn't pass it up.

It has the 454 V8 with a towing package, which as I understand includes and transmission cooler among other things. I don't really intend to tow much, but I will be taking advantage of the 9 passenger seating since I have so many kids. I have a couple of questions about the vehicle to which I thought I may find answers in this forum.

First, what's the difference between an R2500 and a V2500? I am not even sure which mine is. Also, what are a few sources of chevy OEM parts and other Chevy accessories? My 'Burban has steel wheels with hubcaps, and I would like to swap those for something else, but would prefer they be as close to OEM chevy as possible. Plus, I'd like to bring the body up a little, maybe 2 inches, and the original running boards look dated to me, I'd like to maybe put those tubular steps. One more thing, anyone who knows of quirks or issues that are peculiar to this model with these features, please enlighten me. As I said, its low miles for its age (145K original) and runs well, seems to have no problems, but if there's some quirk in it, I'd love a heads up about where to look. Thanks everyone!

I'm not up on the r vs v designation. I'm pretty sure the r is for the 2wd and the v designates the 4wd. I'm old school and am used to the c vs k label. C being 2wd and k for the 4wd.

As far as better wheels, you might want to try what I did. I bought some take offs from somebody who upgraded there wheels. I got a set of 16" chevy wheels from a 2003 Tahoe with brand new Firestones including the center caps and lugs for $400. They were still in balance and I installed them myself. Check craigslist for deals on take offs in your area. Or check a chevy parts store online Chevy Truck Parts

Those are great looking rims, but hey are 6-lug whereas mine are 8-lug. I guess that's part of the 3/4 ton set up.

I actually have my factory 8 lugs from my 05 that are sitting in my garage. I guess I'd be willing to part with them as I have aftermarkets on and refuse to go back to stock. They were actually on the truck a total of about a month and a half and haven't seen pavement since, so they are brand new tires.

    Default Got pics of them?

The logistics would work out, you're in Huntsville and I am in Atlanta, not that far away. If you could let me see what they look like, that would be great. My rims are the factory steel wheels that take wheel covers, and that just doesn't do it for me. Chevy factory wheels sound great to me. I get a good look and get to keep some semblance of a stock appearance. Get back to me!

Absolutely. I will get pictures of them as soon as I can. My grandmother is in the hospital right now and the result is not going to be good. When everything is done and I get back home I will take pics and post them for you.
